What macX does

macX is a community database of games that run natively on Apple Silicon Macs. You can browse games without an account, save Mac configurations, and contribute performance reports after signing in. This policy covers the macX website at www.macx.com.

Information we collect

  • Account details: your chosen username, email address, account creation date, email-verification status, and account permissions. For password accounts, we store a password hash rather than your readable password.
  • Saved Macs and preferences: model, chip, CPU and GPU core counts, memory, saved nicknames, selected Mac, and performance targets. The Mac wizard does not ask for a hardware serial number.
  • Your contributions: game, Mac configuration, performance measurements, graphics settings, software versions, test conditions, dates, notes, and evidence links you submit.
  • Service and security information: session records, temporary sign-in or recovery records, and hashed rate-limit identifiers derived from request or account information. Our hosting providers may process request metadata, such as IP address and browser information, to deliver and secure the site.
  • Messages you send us: the contact details and information included in support or privacy requests.

Google sign-in

If you choose Sign in with Google, Google sends an identity token that we verify. macX uses your stable Google account identifier, email address, and relevant verification claims to authenticate you, create an account, or link Google to an existing macX account. We store the Google identifier-to-account link; temporary sign-in records also hold information needed to finish authentication.

We do not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, contacts, or other Google account content. Google may include additional basic profile claims in the identity token, but macX does not use a Google name or profile picture as your public username. You choose your own macX username.

Google account information is used to provide account authentication and linking, and to protect these features from misuse. We do not sell Google account data or use it for advertising. Matching email addresses do not automatically merge accounts: linking to an existing account requires confirmation through the macX account flow.

Google processes your use of its sign-in service under its own Privacy Policy. You can revoke macX access from your Google Account connections. Revoking Google access does not itself delete your macX account or contributions; contact us to request their deletion.

How we use information

We use information to operate accounts, remember saved Macs and preferences, publish and compare performance reports, provide watchlist alerts, respond to support requests, manage the catalog, and prevent abuse. If email delivery is configured, requested account verification or recovery messages are sent through the configured email provider. Optional email verification is not required to submit performance reports.

Public and private information

Your username and submitted performance-report details, including the tested Mac configuration, are public. Game listings and their supporting catalog information are also public. Public pages and APIs may be indexed, copied, or shared by others. Do not place private information in report notes or evidence links.

Your account email, password hash, sessions, Google account link, saved Mac nicknames, and personal watchlist are not displayed publicly. Authorized administrators can access account and submitted information when needed to operate, support, or secure the service.

Service providers and disclosures

The site is hosted through OpenAI Sites using Cloudflare infrastructure and a Cloudflare database. These providers process information needed to host and operate macX. Google provides optional Google sign-in. Where account email delivery is enabled, the email provider receives the information needed to send that message. We may also disclose information when required by law or necessary to address abuse, protect users, or secure the service.

Cookies, browser storage, and external links

macX uses an essential sign-in cookie, normally valid for up to 30 days, and a temporary Google sign-in cookie, normally valid for up to 10 minutes. Browser storage remembers appearance and browsing preferences. Blocking cookies or clearing browser storage may sign you out or reset preferences.

The website includes external game images, store links, source references, and evidence links. Your browser may contact those providers when loading an image or following a link. Their own privacy policies apply. macX does not include an advertising-tracking or behavioral-analytics feature.

Retention, choices, and deletion requests

We retain account and contribution records while needed to provide the service and handle legitimate security, support, and legal needs. Sign-in and recovery records have validity limits; an expired credential cannot be used to sign in. Some information may also remain in provider logs or backups under the applicable provider's retention practices.

You can change your username, edit or remove your own reports, remove saved Macs, manage watchlist entries, and sign out using the site. Removing a saved Mac does not delete its previously submitted reports. You can clear local preferences in your browser settings.

To request a copy, correction, or deletion of your account information or Google account link, email jacobjbommarito@gmail.com. We may ask you to confirm account ownership before acting. Please specify whether your request also covers public performance reports. Copies already made by third parties may remain outside our control.

Children and changes to this policy

macX is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review it. We may update this policy as the service changes and will revise the effective date above.
